Virtual Public Hearing: Tell IDEM Not to Rubber-Stamp Amazon Jasper County Data Center's Dirty Diesel Permit

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) has published a draft air permit for Amazon’s Project Orion AI data center, a sprawling 13-building complex under development in Wheatfield that would allow about 384 polluting backup diesel generators — millions of gallons of fuel — near homes and right next to the Schahfer coal and gas plants and the Kankakee River watershed, which will be impacted by tens of millions of gallons of discharge and intake daily from the cumulative impact of these facilities.

Amazon's own filings show the data center would release thousands of tons of smog-forming air pollution and carbon monoxide each year without strict controls, impacting Jasper County residents, farm families, and downwind neighbors.

Jasper County deserves clean air now! Join the virtual public hearing on November 10th to tell IDEM to protect our communities and airways from Amazon’s dirty diesel generators permit. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/jtnwi/event/1061776/.
