Schahfer Gas Plant Air Permit for AI Data Centers Virtual Informational Session

Learn about how to comment on NIPSCO’s draft air permit for a 2,600-megawatt gas plant to power AI data centers at the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) Virtual Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 3.

On Monday, June 1st, join us to learn about NIPSCO’s draft air permit for a massive polluting combined-cycle gas plant that would be built to exclusively power AI data centers. NIPSCO GenCo and Amazon want to make Jasper County a sacrifice zone for Big Tech. The R.M. Schahfer Generating Station, a coal-fired power plant, is already a major air polluter in Wheatfield. Now, this new proposed plant would release excessive amounts of air and climate pollution in the region. Simultaneously, Amazon is proposing a 321-acre data center for the same site.

Hosts & Guests: Megan Anderson, Senior Campaign Representative, Sierra Club; Ashley Williams, Executive Director, Just Transition Northwest Indiana (JTNWI); Tony Mendoza, Senior Attorney, Sierra Club; and Sarah Goss, JTNWI Consultant, Ecoethic Creative LLC.
