Join JTNWI and Dunes-Calumet president Kim Ehn for our second annual bird walk. This year, we’ll explore Big Maple Lake at Deep River County Park, an important local watershed and wildlife habitat near the incoming Hobart Amazon Tech Park and other industrial development. This location gives us a chance to discuss how land-use decisions can affect birds, water, natural habitats, and the people who live nearby.
We’re excited to welcome local Girl Scout Troop 35787 for a hands-on lesson in birdwatching, environmental stewardship, and environmental justice, including why communities deserve a voice in decisions that may affect their health, environment, and quality of life.
The scouts will also receive a special badge for participating in this walk.
All are welcome, and we will have extra binoculars available. Spots are limited, so please register in advance using our bio.
